Clark in Debate: "We're All in This Together."

"In the military, I learned that generals don't win wars, soldiers do," General Wesley Clark said. "We're all in this together."

Clark led the charge of Democratic candidates in the Detroit debate, putting forth his vision of a better America both at home and abroad.

Clark called Bush's foreign policy a game of "bait and switch."

"President Bush said he'd get Osama Bin Laden dead or alive. Instead he went after Saddam Hussein. He doesn't have either one of them," Clark said.

The debate is the third where Clark has squared off with the other Democratic presidential hopefuls. The series is sponsored by the Democratic National Committee. This debate was hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus.

When Clark was questioned about his statements on his stance on the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, he made clear his opposition to the war in Iraq and why he, at times, spoke well of the current administration.

"I'm a fair person," Clark told the crowd. "And when this administration's done something right, well, if they were Russians doing something right, Chinese doing something right, French doing something right or even Republicans doing something right, I'm going to praise them. "

Clark continued, "Now, this country was attacked on 9/11, and it was right that this administration went into Afghanistan. And I supported that war; so did 90 percent of the American people. That Taliban government should have been taken out. But the failure of this administration was not to put the troops in to finish the job against Osama bin Laden. And you know why they didn't do it? They didn't do it because, all along, their plan was to save those troops to go after Saddam Hussein."

The next debate will be November 24 in Des Moines, Iowa.
